Kushum Shikder's "Shoroter Joba" hits theatres on Friday, marking her directorial debut. Originally a short story published in a 2017 Eid magazine, the film is now a full-length feature. It will screen at Star Cineplex and Jamuna Blockbuster.
Shikder not only stars in the film but also wrote the screenplay and produced it. The story follows a reclusive woman grappling with unrequited love, heartbreak, and a string of mysterious deaths.
Despite initial hesitations about releasing the film during Durga Puja due to the country’s current challenges, Shikder chose to move forward. She shared, “Many advised me against releasing the film at this time, but I'm a very positive person. Life hasn’t stopped; offices are open, people are working, and entertainment is still thriving. So, why should cinema halls remain closed?”
The film features a talented supporting cast, including Yash Rohan, Jeetu Ahsan, Shahidul Alam Sachchu, Naresh Bhuiyan, Mahmudul Islam Mithu, and Ashok Bepari. Suman Dhar served as the advisory director, and the project was co-produced by Kushum Shikder and Faridur Reza Sagar.
After a hiatus from acting since 2018, Shikder hopes to return to the screen more regularly. She added that her future directing plans will depend on the success of "Shoroter Joba."
