Four new community clinics are going to be constructed in two upazilas of Kurigram at a cost of Tk 1 crore 12 lakh.
According to Kurigram Health Engineering Department, the tender process for the project has already been completed and the construction willbegin in the next one month.
Concerned authorities are hoping that the construction work of those four community clinics will be completed within June.
According to sources, the clinics to be constructed are Char Sajai, Char Newaji and Sylhet Para in Rajibpur Upazila and Madhyakumopur Community Clinic in Kurigram Sadar Upazila.
Each of these community clinics will be of 650 square-feet. They one-story community clinics will have three rooms, a waiting room and two toilets each. According to Kurigram Civil Surgeon's Office, there are 289 community clinics in 73 unions of Kurigram district. If the new four community clinics are constructed the total number of clinics will be 293.
Mohammad Ali Jinnah, Executive Engineer of Kurigram Health Engineering Department said, “Three clinics to be built in Rajibpur Upazila are in remote areas and it will be a challenge for us as well as the contractors. We hope to overcome that challenge and succeed”.
