After the World Cup mission, Bangladesh return to the field again as Nazmul Hossain Shanto will lead the Tigers against New Zealand in the two-match Test series as part of the ICC Test Championship.
The Kiwis arrived in Dhaka on Tuesday at 10 p.m. to participate in the series. The Black Caps took rest in team hotel at night. The team will then take off for Sylhet and visit Sylhet International Cricket Stadium on Wednesday. Shanto and Cowill also visit the venue on the day. It would be the venue for the first test. The two teams will take part in the first Test at 9:30 a.m. on November 28. Before that, both teams will train at this venue on Thursday and Friday.
Najmulwas named vice-captain of the one-day international side before the World Cup, and led the side in two matches in the tournament in Shakib's absence. He also led Bangladesh in the third and final one-day match against New Zealand in September, in the absence of Shakib and Litton.
Both teams will return from Sylhet to Dhaka on December 3. The players will practice at Sher-E-Bangla Stadium on December 4 and 5, and the second and final test will kick off on December 6 at the same venue. The Kiwis will return home on December 11 and await Bangladesh, who are set to play a three-match ODI and T20I series to end the year.
This will be Bangladesh's first assignment in the latest cycle of the ICC Test Championship.
New Zealand beat Bangladesh 2-0 in the ODI series, the side's first series win in Bangladesh in 15 years.
Left-arm spinner Hasan Murad was handed his maiden call-up to the Bangladesh squad, with top-order batsman Shahadat Hossain and pace bowler Hasan Mahmud being the other uncapped players in the side.
The 22-year-old Murad has made an impressive start to his first-class career, taking 121 wickets from 25 matches since his debut in 2021.
