Kishoreganj municipality people face suffering

Published : 30 May 2020 09:36 PM | Updated : 07 Sep 2020 05:11 AM

Kishoreganj municipality is one of the oldest municipalities in the country. It can be said that the municipality, which was established in 1st April, 1869, has not yet  underwent any development.

On the contrary, the condition of 50 percent drainage system and roads of the municipality is so dilapidated that it is causing anger in the minds of Kishoreganj people.

The people of 9 wards under the municipality are showing it in tea stall and on social media. Part of Gaital Sridharkhila, Old Court Road and Srinagar Road on the north side of horticulture will be a sight to behold.

Despite repeated informing the social media and the municipal authorities about this issue, retention is not moving.

According to the citizens, the roads in the alleys of 9 wards were  flooded due to light rain. Although various road reforms have been initiated, they have not been done due to invisible reasons.

They also said that this is happening due to lack of proper planning for urban development. There are many roads that seem to be suitable for smallholders or fish farming.

Despite repeated informing the mayor of Kishoreganj municipality Md. Parvez Mia, we are not getting any remedy. Year after year, we are not getting a cure. At different times we were made to understand with different excuses.

Representatives of civil society said that despite being an ancient municipality, we are still lagging behind due to unplanned management.

There are no roads left in any area including roads and culverts which have become a nightmare for the public due to lack of reforms. We want to get rid of this situation.

Kishoreganj Municipality Mayor Md Parvez Mia said tenders have been floated for the drainage work of Srinagar Road north of Horticulture, Farm moor beside Kishoreganj Clinic and one side of Gaital Sridharkhila. This work could not be completed due to the corona outbreak.
