Kishoreganj BSCIC needs govt support to play role in economy

Bangladesh Small and Cottage Industries Corporation (BSCIC) in Kishoreganj is not seeing the face of the light due to vigorous initiatives. But with a little sunshine, the darkness will go away, the face of light will seen. There will be employment opportunities for about 10,000 people. All that is needed is government action.

Kishoreganj BSCIC consists of 150 plots in about 20 acres. Industrial unit 64. The production unit is 29. Manufactured unit 7. Nine plots that have not started construction. Poor unit 6. 11 Construction unit completed but did not go into production. There are two cases for plot. There are 10 plots vacant out of which notified for 7 plots

Some of the responsible officials and industry entrepreneurs of Kishoreganj BSCIC said that, Kishoreganj BSCIC is going ahead in the face of various adversities. It is possible to revolutionize the small and cottage industries. All that is needed is government action. BSCIC industry needs to be strengthened. We hope Kishoreganj and also Bangladesh can play a leading role in the economy.

Assistant General Manager (Acting) of Kishoreganj BSCIC Md. Kamrul Ahsan said, BSCIC needs to be mobilized. The present government has taken a plan to mobilize BSCIC. Asked why the units were not going for  production, he said, "Due to gas, water and electricity problems, industrial entrepreneurs are unable to go for  production. Due to lack of allocation, infrastructure development in the industrial city is being hampered.

However, during a visit to Kishoreganj BSCIC on November last fiscal year, Jivan Kumar Chowdhury, Development and Extension Director of Dhaka BSCIC, Deputy General Manager of Industrial City and Co-ordination Branch, Ahsan Hakim, Regional Director of Dhaka BSCIC, asked about various issues of Kishoreganj BSCIC. After hearing their issues, they assured that they would soon take measures to resolve the problems.

He also said that, in every fiscal year, 3 training workshops were conducted over a period of 3 days to create new entrepreneurs. Through a humble loan program, a maximum of one lakh taka is also loaned.

Asked about the empty plot, Kishoreganj BSCIC Officer S.M. Aslam Kabir said that, detailed discussion was started with the Chamber of Commerce and the entrepreneurs of the industrial city on the construction of the unused plots and construction of industrial units in the industrial city as per the norms and the entrepreneurs have already been given letters from this office. The organizers answered the letter.

President of BSCIC Owners Association Azmal Khan said, "There is no shortage of industrial entrepreneurship in Kishoreganj, there is a lack of environment. Entrepreneurs will have the courage to mobilize the BSCIC of Kishoreganj. They will have the courage to invest. Employment will be created. We are facing many problems in the industrial sector of BSCIC. The cost of production is high due to the complexity of gas connection in the BSCIC. Lack of drainage and waste management is a big problem. Due to the Palli Biddut electricity connection, we are not getting 24 hours electricity connection.

Kishoreganj Chamber of Commerce President Md. Mujibur Rahman Belal said, infrastructure development of BSCIC was needed. Due to gas, water and electricity problems, entrepreneurs are unable to go for production. I would like to draw the attention of the government and if the government gives attention to BSCIC then there will be employment for about 10,000 people. BSCIC will play a role in the economy of Kishoreganj and also Bangladesh.
