Bashundhara Kings have scaled new heights in domestic football. Not only have they secured five consecutive league titles, but they are also on the cusp of achieving a historic treble this season.
Victory over Mohammedan in the Federation Cup final on 22nd May in Mymensingh would see them claim the first ever treble for the Kings. This would be followed by their participation in the AFC Challenge Cup.
Bashundhara Kings President Imrul Hasan has expressed his ambition to build upon domestic success by achieving something significant on the international stage.
On Sunday, Kings secured the Premier League title at their home ground, the Kings Arena. The atmosphere was jubilant, with Oscar Bruzón's team celebrating their title triumph with a fireworks display.
Looking ahead to the potential treble, Club President Imrul Hasan commented: "We have secured two trophies, and another is likely to follow. If we achieve this, we will become the first team to win the treble."
(When asked if there would be a surprise) "I don't want to reveal any surprises now. There are none left to disclose. Only if we win the treble will anything further be said."
The format of the AFC tournament has been revised this time around, with Bashundhara Kings set to compete in the AFC Challenge Cup. The Kings are determined to leave their mark on the international arena, replicating their domestic success.
Imrul acknowledged the challenges that lie ahead in the AFC Challenge Cup: "We face a tough competition in the AFC Challenge Cup. We are making the necessary preparations and are in the process of strengthening the team. I am hopeful that we can achieve something positive on the international stage this time. That's the approach we are taking with
the team."
Imrul Hasan also stressed the importance of collaboration in advancing Bangladeshi football: "Everyone needs to work together to progress the country's football. All stakeholders involved in the sport need to collaborate. A single federation cannot drive football forward alone. Likewise, the club alone cannot achieve this. All those concerned with football must work together to take the game to the next level."
