Roni Gazi, driver of the truck that killed 12 persons including five university students at Barobazer area on Jhenaidah-Jashore highway in Kaliganj upazila, was arrested by the police from Benapoe of Jashore on Friday night.
The arrestee is son of Mashiar Rahman Gazi of Sonatonkathi village of Sharsha upazila in Jashore. He was arrested after a secret information when he was trespassing in neighboring India. said the police sources.
Barobazer highway police officer in charge Sheikh Mesbahuddin said they had also seized the killer truck from Kaliganj truck terminal. Acting on a tip off, the police conducted drives to arrest the killer driver from the bordering oint at Benapole of Sharsha. He (OC) had filed a case with the police accusing a number of unknown where Roni Gazi was shown arrested.
Mention may be made that 12 persons including five university students in final year in Masters were killed when the bus of GK Paribahan marching towards Magura from Jashore in the evening of Wednesday. Of them, nine had died on the spot.
