The Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) has initiated legal proceedings against SM Kamruzzaman, Additional Deputy Commissioner (ADC) of Khulna Metropolitan Police (KMP), accusing him of unlawfully accumulating wealth exceeding Tk 10 million and failing to disclose full details of his assets.

ACC Assistant Director Rakibul Islam lodged the case at the ACC’s Khulna Integrated District Office on Monday.

Md Abdul Wadud, deputy director of the ACC's Khulna office, confirmed the filing of the case.

According to the case details, after an injury, the ACC issued an asset statement notice to Kamruzzaman on October 30, 2019.

He submitted his statement on December 18, 2019, declaring assets worth Tk 29.02 million, comprising both movable and immovable properties. However, after verification, the ACC found that he had concealed information about assets worth Tk 1.96 million.

Additionally, the ACC's inquiry revealed that he had acquired assets worth Tk 10.23 million, which were inconsistent with his known sources of income.

As a result, the case was filed under Sections 26(2) and 27(1) of the ACC Act, 2004.
