After a long 26 months, the passenger train 'Bondhan Express' has been re-launched on the Khulna-Kolkata route. The train left Kolkata on Sunday morning and reached Khulna at 12:30 pm. After a one-hour break, the train with 44 passengers left Khulna for Kolkata again at half past noon.
Manik Chandra Sarkar, master of Khulna railway station, said that after the corona outbreak in the country, the inter-country train service between Bangladesh and India was stopped from March 15, 2020. With that the Bondhan Express train stopped.
According to railway sources, after the Indo-Pakistani war in 1965, the Khulna-Kolkata passenger train was stopped. After a long 52 years, on 16 November 2017, a new 456-seat Bondhan Express train was launched between Khulna and Kolkata. The distance between Kolkata and Khulna is 172 kilometers. From now on, the train will leave Kolkata every Sunday and Thursday morning as per the previous rules, and again at noon the train will leave Khulna for Kolkata.
Including travel tax, the fare for AC cabin seat is Tk 2,055 and for AC chair is Tk 1,550.
