Pacer Khaled Ahmed replaced his predecessor Taskin Ahmed for the second Test against South Africa, scheduled to start on October 29, at the Zahur Ahmed Chowdhury Stadium in Chattogram.
The Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) announced squad with making only one change on Thursday evening.
Hannan Sarker, one of the selectors explained that Taskin hasn’t been dropped but he has given a break to rest, as they have a long international fixture coming up in the next few months. So, the break will give Taskin some time to prepare for the upcoming series. Khaled was dropped for the opening Test against the Protease after a poor display in the Kanpur Test against India in September following his four wickets for 61 runs in the National Cricket League 2024-25 during Sylhet Division's opening round match against Dhaka Division in Khulna.
Hannan Sarker said, “Taskin hasn't been dropped. We have a long list of international matches coming up in the next few months. The break will give him some time to rest and he can also start preparing for the upcoming series.”
Taskin wasn't considered in the playing eleven in the first Test against South Africa, as the Tigers opted to go with Hasan Mahmud, the only pacer in the starting lineup alongside three spinners wheh Bangladesh suffer seven wickets defeat on Day 4 in Mirpur.
Bangladesh squad will travel to Chattogram on October today for the final match of the series.
