Finance Minister AHM Mustafa Kamal today called upon the European Union (EU) to continue the existing preferential trade facilities to Bangladesh beyond the LDC graduation period.
Kamal made the request when the newly appointed EU Ambassador to Bangladesh Charles Whiteley made a courtesy call on him at his secretariat office. During the meeting, the Finance Minister mentioned that the EU in combine is the largest export destination of Bangladesh while they have turned into a trusted development partner of Bangladesh, said a Finance Ministry press release.

Kamal also hoped that the relations between the EU and Bangladesh would be further strengthened in the coming days.
In response, Charles Whiteley said that the support of EU to Bangladesh would continue in the days to come.
Recalling his assignment in Bangladesh from EU in various capacities from 2005 to 2009, the EU Ambassador lauded highly the economic development of Bangladesh adding that the current Bangladesh has impressed him the most.
