Khulna City Corporation (KCC) will open cattle market on June 10 for trading sacrificial animals on the Zoragate Bazar premises ahead of upcoming Eid-ul-Azha, held on June 17.
The decision was taken in a meeting of the sacrificial animals conducting cattle market committee set by the KCC authority on Monday afternoon at the Shaheed Altaf auditorium of KCC building in the city, said a KCC press release on Tuesday.
Panel mayor of KCC-1 and the convener of the cattle market committee S M Rafiuddin Ahmed presided over the meeting.
KCC Mayor Talukder Abdul Khaleque is expected to inaugurate the cattle market as the chief guest. The meeting decided that the cattle market will be set up in accordance with the hygiene rules, and no other cattle market can be placed in the city.
It also decided that the market will be opened with all the modern management including round-the-clock security through CCTV cameras, ensuring uninterrupted power supply, and detection of counterfeit notes under the management of Bangladesh Bank, the press release said.
There will be round-the-clock treatment of veterinarians, visitors to the market, provision of food hotels in a clean environment, modern public toilets, and 24-hour security with the help of magistrates, police and RAB, the meeting decided.
Panel Mayor-2 of KCC and joint convener of the committee S M Khurshid Ahmed, Panel Mayor-3 Memory Sufia Rahman Shunu, member secretary of the committee Sheikh Hasan Iftekhar Chalu, councilors, officers of KCC were present the meeting.
