KC College students want special supplements on specific issues

“We want to see special supplements on specific issues at least thrice a week in the promising English daily Bangladesh Post. It might contribute a lot in nation development activities within the policy of the newspaper authorities which they try to do.” A number of students of first year of intermediate class in Jhenidah Government Keshab Chandra College expressed their reaction while talking to the Roving Correspondent of the daily.

They said the daily had been meeting up the thirst of news and views with its publication where the authority should add opinion for all classes of people so that they express their opinion uninterrupted. It will create public opinion for any discussion or new era of development and ensure access for the readers, as well as everyone at home and abroad.

Bismika Sultana Puspa said the daily should carry on any specific subject in series, which will benefit the students. She expected more writings on culture and tradition on the special supplements at the weekend. Asif Mahmud Jibon in his opinion said the daily should carry sports, education, science fiction, recent happenings, social issues and research writings in weekly special issues. He gave emphasis on the enrichment of the international page with news items and more information with colour photos. Personal activities of the sports stars should be covered in the sports pages so that everybody will know the history and struggles of the stars.

Student Rahat Ara Giti Shova said healthcare pages necessary to keep the nation healthy and aware the people. She desired writings on admission tests in college and honours classes. Writings about BCS preparation and brain storming issues and games should be accommodated in the daily.

Mehrab Zaman desired to read international events on mysterious incidents. He suggested to arrange three country pages with colour photos as major people live in rural areas and most of the incidents take place there. The same year student Jhelik Ganguly expected a separate corner for the students where they could express their intervention, hope and aspiration, sufferings and opinion. Job circular is an essential option on the English daily.

Student Ashab Sadik Dippo wants to see the coverage of science related research writings, literacy, life science. Entrepreneurs’ page should be added in the esteemed daily like Bangladesh Post towards a glorious solvent country. Kabbo Mitra, another student wants to see huge informative stories with colour photos in the daily for its grass-route level readers. Public opinion, climate and prayer timing shoud be arranged. Sub headlines could be used to attract the readers for easy understanding. He suggested to accommodate three to four concise story on the top of the front page everyday, Kabbo Mitra said.

This correspondent also talked to the principal of Jhenidah government Keshab Chandra College Professor Dr. BM Rezaul Karim for his reaction on the interview with his students. He said the prominent editor Sharif Shab Uddin and the authority of the esteemed daily might arrange more writings of the history of liberation, contribution of Bangabandhu and his family members, politics and current issues to ensure access to information for the people of the country, as well as globe.
