Kaaktaal, a popular band among the youth, is hosting their much-awaited concert "Borshonabeg" today at the National Library Auditorium in Agargaon, Dhaka. Originally scheduled for July 17 during the rainy Bengali month of Srabon, the concert was postponed due to the country's uncertain political situation at that time.
With the monsoon season now over and autumn in the air, the band is excited to return to the stage. Asif Iqbal, the lead vocalist of Kaaktaal, shared that the concert will mainly feature the band’s monsoon-themed songs, along with a few other tracks. The concert is inspired by their signature song "Borshonabeg."
In a statement, Kaaktaal said, "This concert was initially planned to celebrate the monsoon season. Now, we have the chance to use the proceeds from celebrating the beauty of the monsoons to support those affected by it. We hope you will join us in this effort."
Organised by Rhythm Revolution, the event will also include performances from another band alongside Kaaktaal.
Kaaktaal recently gained attention for their song "Rokto Gorom Matha Thanda," released during the anti-discrimination students' movement. The band followed it with two more impactful tracks, "Vorosha Ase" and "Shikkhar Jobanbondi." They also have another song about the movement that is yet to be released.
Kaaktaal has released a total of six albums so far. The band’s current lineup includes Asif Iqbal as the composer, vocalist, lyricist, and guitarist; Nazm Anwr on the flute; Alex Joven on drums and percussion; Soumya Anindya Riddho on bass guitar; and Antar on keyboards.
