Jashore University of Science and Technology (JUST) won 1 Silver and 2 Bronze medals on the first day of the Bangabandhu Inter-University Sports Championship-2022. Sanjeeda Akhter Sathi got silver medal in women's half marathon, Alamin won bronze medal in boys half marathon and Ummay Hafsa Rumky won bronze medal in cycling.
Bangabandhu Inter-University Sports Championship Half Marathon was held at Hatirjheel on Friday morning. This year's event was inaugurated by Planning Minister M.A Mannan. At that time, the president of the organizing committee of the championship Nahim Razzak MP, the secretary of the youth sports ministry and the member secretary of the organizing committee Mejbah Uddin and others were present.
The marathon was reduced from 21 km to 14 km due to unfavorable weather conditions. About 100 contestants from various universities participated in this event organized by the Ministry of Youth and Sports. Sajjad Hossain of Bangladesh Agricultural University became the champion in boys' half marathon and Samir Hasan Khan of BRAC University came second. Tamanna, a student of Kushtia Islami University, won the women's half marathon and Faraji Maliha Hossain Preeti of Dhaka University came third. Apart from this, Snigdha Akhter of Gono Bishwabidyalay became the champion in the girls' cycling competition, while Sathi Jahan of Jahangirnagar University (JU) came second. About 7000 students from 125 public and private universities are participating in the third edition of this year's Bangabandhu Inter-University Sports Championship-2022.
