The 48th founding anniversary of Juba League, the youth wing of ruling Awami League, was celebrated across the country in a befitting manner on Wednesday.
Bangladesh Awami Jubo League, commonly known as Jubo League, is the first youth organisation of Bangladesh founded by Sheikh Fazlul Haque Moni at the directive of Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman through a youth convention at the Institution of Engineers, Bangladesh (IEB) in Dhaka on November 11 in 1972.
The organisation was established with the aim of involving the youth in the struggle for a non-communal and democratic Bangladesh. Nowadays, Juba League has become the largest youth organisation in the country.
Marking the founding anniversary, district and upazila units of the organisation chalked out various programmes, including rally, tree planting programme and distribution of food among the poor.
In Gazipur, the leaders and workers of the organisation celebrated the founding anniversary in a festive atmosphere through various programmes in the district, reports our Gazipur Correspondent.
The day was celebrated in the district by hoisting the flag of the organisation in front of the district Awami League office in Gazipur city and laying wreaths at the portrait of the Father of the Nation through a joyous procession and discussion meeting. Besides, sadachari, wheelchairs and winter clothes were distributed among the visually impaired on the occasion of the 48th founding anniversary.
Convener of city unit Juba League Kamrul Ahsan Russell Sarkar presided over the function, while joint convener Mohammad Alamgir Hossain and Juba League leader Rahat Khan were present at the programme, among others.
In Jashore, marking the founding anniversary, the Juba League leaders and activists paid homage to Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman and Sheikh Fazlul Haque Moni by placing wreaths at their portraits at Keshabpur in Jashore, reports our Keshapur Correspondent.
The Jubo League men also cut a cake and joined a discussion and doa mahfil at office of the organisation at the upazila in the morning.
Convener of upazila Juba League and panel mayor of Keshabpur musicality Bishwas Shahiduzzaman Shaheed presided over the discussion, while it was attended, among others, by joint convener Abu Sayeed Lavlu, Awami League leader Kartik Chandra Saha and Juba League leader Shahadat Hossain.
In Lakhmipur, the Juba League leaders and activists, led by district Juba League president and Sadar Upazila Chairman AKM Salahuddin Tipu, cut a cake at 12:01 am at office of the organisation in Lakhmipur town marking the 48th founding anniversary, reports our Lakhmipur Correspondent.
The Jubo League men also distributed facemasks and hand-sanitisers to prevent Covid-19. District Juba League’s general secretary Abdullah al Noman and Upazila Vice Chairman Advocate Rahmat Ullah Biplab were present at the time, among others.
In Nilphamari, on the occasion, a colourful rally and discussion were held in Kishoreganj upazila of Nilphamari district, reports our Kishoreganj (Nilphamari) Correspondent
The colourful rally was brought from the Upazila Juba League office. At the end of the rally, Shah Mohammad Abul Kalam Bari Pilot, chairman of the Upazila Parishad and convener of the Upazila Juba League, along with others cut a cake at the office.
Later, a discussion was held with Shah Mohammad Abul Kalam Bari Pilot in the chair. Joint convener of Kishoreganj Upazila Juba League Mosharraf Hossain Tulip, joint convener Minhazul Abedin Minhaj, Ranchandi UP chairman Mokleshur Rahman and others spoke on the occasion.
In Pabna, the founding anniversary was celebrated at Ishwardi of the district amid various programmes, including rally, doa mahfil, hoisting national and organisational flags, tree plantation and placing wreath at portrait of Bangabandhu, reports our Ishwardi Correspondent.
The Juba League men began the day programme from their office at Ishwardi town in the morning. They hoisted national and organisational flags at the office at 7:00 am. Later, they placed wreath at the portrait of Bangabandhu.
The Juba League men took part at tree plantation programme on the premises of Ishwardi Govt College, Women’s College and some other parts at the town. Later, a doa mahfil was held at the mosque of Ishwardi Govt College.
Ishwardi unit president of Juba League Shirhan Sharif Tamal, municipality unit president Alauddin Biplab, general secretary Ariful Islam Liton and upazila Chhatra League president Rakibul Hasan Roni joined the programmes, among others.
