Members of the joint forces arrested a former additional secretary and his son with Tk1.09 crore in cash and eleven iPhones from their Uttara residence during a four-hour long raid from Sunday night to early hours of Monday.
The detained ex-official was identified as Mohammad Amjad Hossain, a former additional secretary of the Ministry of Local Government, Rural Development and Co-operatives.
Mohammad Rafiqul Islam, sub-inspector (SI) of Uttara police station, said, Amjad Hossain and his son were arrested after the raid.
The four-hour-long joint raid was conducted by the members of the Bangladesh Army and Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP).
He said the arrestees are currently in police custody, and a case has been filed against them.
