Anisul Haque, the late mayor of Dhaka North City Corporation, had taken the initiative in 2015. After the death of Anisul Haque on November 30, 2017, the then Mayor of Dhaka South City Corporation Mohammad Sayeed Khokon took over the management of the Bus Route Rationalization Committee.
However, when Sheikh Fazle Nur Taposh was named the new mayor, the responsibility was handed over to him. Having overcome the pandemic situation and many other obstacles including recent tensed situations surrounding private bus owners, the long waited initiative is seeing the light of day from today.
