President of the Rajshahi Division Journalist Association, Dhaka, and Senior Sub-Editor of Bangladesh, Pratidin Mujibur Rahman Chowdhury, passed away in the early hours on Thursday.
He was 61.
Dhaka Union of Journalists (DUJ) Member Mujibur Rahman breathed his last while undergoing treatment in the city's Birdem General Hospital.
He left behind his wife, a son, a daughter, and a host of relatives and admirers to mourn his death.
His first Namaz-e-Janaza was held at 1pm at his working place, Bangladesh Pratidin, in the Bashundhara area, and the second Janaza was held after Asr prayer in Maniknagar, Dhaka.
He was buried in the city's Mugda area.
Dhaka Union of Journalists (DUJ) president Sohel Haider Chowdhury and its general secretary Akhter Hossain expressed profound shock and sorrow at the death of Mujib.
They prayed for the eternal peace of the departed soul and conveyed deep sympathy to the bereaved family members.
