Bangladesh captain Nigar Sultana Joty picked up for the best XI of the ICC Women's World Cup when players from seven teams were included in the Team of the Tournament, the International Cricket Council (ICC) revealed in a press release.
The recently concluded Women's T-20 World Cup in the United Arab Emirates (UAE), Bangladesh, who began their mission with a winning note defeating Scotland, could not clebrate any more victory.
Although the Tigresses failed to achiev any big success as a team, their captain Nigar Sultana Joty has earned the feat to have a place in the best XI of the ICC Women's World Cup.
Bangladesh, who were eliminated from the first round, Joty and Sobhana Mostari were noteable performers for the team. Until Bangladesh's elimination, two cricketers of Bangladesh were among the top four run scorers of the tournament.
Champions New Zealand and runners-up South Africa are represented by three players each while stars from England, India, the West Indies, Bangladesh and Australia are also selected.
The ICC press release said, “Nigar Sultana Joty takes the gloves following an impressive competition. She led her side to their first ICC Women's T20 World Cup victory for 10 years against Scotland and impressed with the bat against both West Indies (39) and South Africa (32 not out).”
Joty scored 104 runs in the tournament, averaging 34.66 and effected seven dismissals behind the wicket.
