The ruling Awami League seems to be concentrating on intensifying the activities of the party.
In this regard, the Awami League has called a joint meeting today (Tuesday) of all the units of the party’s Dhaka Metropolitan area.
According to the party’s official sources, both North and South units of Dhaka Metropolitan units of Awami League, Jubo League, and Chhatra League have been invited to join the meeting.
The meeting has been called within two days of a meeting of the Awami League’s Executive Committee.
A press release signed by Biplab Barua, Office Secretary of Awami League, said that the meeting will be held at 10:00am at the party’s central office located at the capital’s Bangabandhu Avenue. Party’s general secretary Obaidul Quader, also the Minister for Road, Transport and Bridges, will chair the meeting.
Earlier on Saturday, a meeting of the executive committee of the Awami League was held at the Gonobhaban, the official residence of the Prime Minister.
The meeting was held with Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina, also the president of the ruling party.
The meeting was held focusing on the roadmap of the next general elections, which are scheduled to be held at the end of the next year.
Besides, the party sources said that the ruling party is now concentrated to warm up the party’s leaders, activists and supporters in countering the activities of different opposition parties, mainly the BNP.
It should be mentioned that the BNP, which earlier was in power several times, is getting prepared for an anti-government movement to drum up public support in favour of the party. In this regard, the BNP already held several meetings in capital Dhaka.
The sources also said that the opposition party is trying to forge a movement against the government as at present, the COVID-19 pandemic situation is no more prevailing. Moreover, the Eid-ul-Fitr is also over.
