The Rome Film Festival has announced that Johnny Depp will be honored with a Lifetime Achievement Award during its 2024 edition. This award celebrates Depp's significant contributions to film over his career.
In addition to this accolade, Depp's latest directorial project, 'Modi - Three Days on the Wing of Madness', will be screened at the festival. The film tells the story of Amedeo Modigliani, a bohemian artist living in war-torn Paris in 1916. It captures a whirlwind seventy-two hours in Modigliani's life as he faces many struggles.
The film features French actress Antonia Desplat and Riccardo Scamarcio. In 'Modi', the artist is on the run from the police while contemplating his future in the city. He encounters resistance from fellow artists like Maurice Utrillo and Chaim Soutine, as well as his muse, Beatrice Hastings.
Seeking help from his friend and art dealer Leopold Zborowski, Modigliani's night of hallucinations leads to an important meeting with American collector Maurice Gangnat, who could change his life.
Following its premiere at the San Sebastian Film Festival, 'Modi' will now be showcased in Rome. The festival will also honor actor Viggo Mortensen with a Lifetime Achievement Award.
Mortensen will present his film, 'The Dead Don't Hurt', which tells the love story of Vivienne Le Coudy, played by Vicky Krieps, and Danish immigrant Holgen Olsen, played by Mortensen, set during the American Civil War. The 2024 Rome Film Festival will take place from October 16 to 27.
