JnUTA starts 3-day strike demanding withdrawal of universal pension scheme

The Jagannath University Teachers' Association (JnUTA) has again announced a strike demanding the withdrawal of the discriminatory pension notification issued by the Finance Ministry and the inclusion of university teachers in the promised super grade and introduction of a separate pay scale for teachers.

The association announced the program through a notice on Monday as per the pre-announced program of Bangladesh University Teachers Association Federation.

According to the notice, as no effective steps has been taken for  the withdrawal of the discriminatory pension notification and the inclusion of university teachers in the promised super grade and the introduction of separate pay scale for teachers, a half-day strike will be observed on June 25, 26, 27 from 8:30 am to 1:00 pm. At this time, sit-in programs  will be held in front of Bhasha Shaheed Rafiq Bhaban of the university on those days from 12 pm to 1 pm. 

And there will be a full day strike on June 30 from 8:30 AM to 3:30 PM. Same as before they will gather in front of Bhasha Shaheed Rafiq Bhaban. 

However, during this 

program, the exams will be exempted from the program.The notice further states that a complete strike will be observed in public universities from July 1 until the demands are met.

In this regard, the general secretary of the JnUTA, Sheikh Masrick Hasan said, "Earlier we observed a procession and a half-day strike to demand the withdrawal of the discriminatory pension scheme. However, since no effective action has been taken so far, we are going to protest again from tomorrow as per the pre-announced program of Bangladesh University Teachers Association Federation.
