The Jagannath University Teachers Association (JnUTA) has announced the suspension of classes and examinations in all departments of the university from Today as part of its protest programme to demand the withdrawal of the 'discriminatory notification' related to the Universal Pension Scheme.
JnUTA issued a letter on Sunday confirmed this matter. According to the notice, during the strike period, classes of all the departments and institutes will be suspended including the online classes, evening classes and professional course classes. No exams will be held and departmental office, seminar room, research lab and computer lab ,dean office will be closed. No seminar, conference or workshop will be held. Teachers who are in-charge of administration duty, will not do their work.
The general secretary of the teachers' association Sheikh Masrick Hasan said, “We had already given notice that if our demands are not met by June 30), we will go on a complete strike from July 1. All classes and exams will be suspended from July 1. No one will do any work. We have also informed the departments.”
He also said that in addition to midterm and final exams, online and evening classes will also be suspended and official employees will not work in any office. However, the president of the Bangladesh University Teachers' Association Federation, Professor Dr. Md. Akhtarul Islam and Secretary General Professor Dr. Md. Nizamul Haque Bhuiyan informed through a notice that if this logical demand of the teachers is not accepted, a complete strike will be observed in all the public universities of the country from July 1.
