The Jagannath University Band Music Association (JnUMBA) is organizing a fundraising concert today to help flood victims. The concert, titled "Concert for Flood Victims," will take place at 3 p.m. at the university's Science Building premises. The ticket price for the concert is Tk 250.
Several bands are set to perform, including Lineup, shironamhin, Sonar Bangla Circus, , Chander Garai, Averse of Bangladesh, Art of Heaven, Shepherd, AK Rahul, and Black Jang. All the bands will perform for free to support the cause.
Faisal Kabir, President of the Jagannath University Band Music Association, voiced his concerns about the situation, suggesting that this disaster might be man-made and part of a larger conspiracy in international circles. He emphasized that as musicians, their primary source of income is music, and this is how they can contribute during this critical time. "Our main objective is to stand by the flood victims as soon as possible," Faisal said.
The concert aims to raise funds quickly to provide immediate relief to those affected by the floods. The university community and music lovers are encouraged to attend the event and support the cause.
With the participation of well-known local bands and the support of the university community, the organizers hope to make a significant contribution to the relief efforts. All proceeds from the concert will go directly to helping the flood victims.
Jagannath University Band Music, organizer of this concert said, “Our target is about 10 lakhs. So far we have managed to collect 2 lakhs from tickets. But we hope there will be a good sale from tonight. Apart from tickets, people are sending us donations, medicines, clothes.”
The funds will mainly be used to deal with the post-flood crisis. Because when the water will start to decrease, people will get sick. In addition to that this fund will be used for building houses for flood affected people.
This concert is an opportunity for everyone to enjoy music while contributing to a meaningful cause, uniting the university and local community in their efforts to support those in need.
