JnU VC Prof Imdadul Haque passes away Three-day mourning declared at JNU

Vice Chancellor of Jagannath University (JnU) Professor Dr. Md Imdadul Haque passed away on Saturday (November 11, 2023).

He breathed his last after 5:15 am while undergoing treatment at BRB Hospital in the city. 

Professor Dr. Md Imdadul Haque had been suffering from cancer. Earlier, he was taken to Singapore for better treatment. He was recently brought back to Dhaka and was undergoing treatment at the BRB Hospital.

The body of the incumbent JnU VC was taken to the university.

Teachers, students, officials and employees of the university paid their last respects to the professor. VC’s relatives and other local people also came to the university to pay their last respects.  

A namaz-e-janaza of the JnU VC was held on the JnU campus. After the second namaz-e-janaza at Dhaka University Central Mosque, Professor Dr. Md Imdadul Haque was buried at Rayerbazar Graveyard.

The JnU administration has declared a three-day mourning for the death of the VC. The classes and examinations are postponed for Saturday, Sunday and Monday.

Professor Dr. Md Imdadul Haque is survived by a daughter.

He had been serving as the 5th vice chancellor of JnU since June 1 in 2021. Prior to that, he served as a professor and dean at the Department of Botany of Dhaka University.
