Khadijatul Kubra, a student at Jagannath University, was found not guilty in the Digital Security Act case brought by the New Market Police Station subsequent to the Kalabagan police station case.
Judge AM Zulfikar Hayat of the Dhaka Cyber Tribunal issued this directive on Thursday. In addition, the court mandated additional case investigation. Mamun Shikder, the court stenographer, attested to this information.
In the case of the Digital Security Act, which was filed at the Kalabagan police station, the court ordered Khadijatul Kubra's release on January 28.
The attorney for Khadijatul Kubra filed a request for exemption from the Digital Security Act case at the New Market police station, according to sources close to the court. The court granted Khadijatul's release from the case after hearing arguments from both parties.
Fatema Khatun, Khadija's mother, claimed that her daughter received justice from the court. Their satisfaction with the exemption order is high.
Khadija is a second-year student at Jagannath University studying Political Science. In October 2020, two distinct lawsuits under the Digital Security Act were brought against retired Major Delwar Hossain and Khadija for allegedly spreading online statements critical of the government and damaging the nation's reputation. The Kalabagan police station in the capital received one case, while the New Market police station received the other. In two of the cases, the police are the plaintiff.
The police filed charge sheets with the court in two instances in May 2022. The Cyber Tribunal of Dhaka issued arrest warrants for the two accused based on this charge sheet. Later that year, on August 27, Khadija was taken into custody by the New Market police station from her Mirpur home. After that, the judicial court twice denied Khadija's request for bail. They later filed a bail request with the High Court.
On February 16 of last year, the High Court granted Khadija bail. However, the chamber court suspended the High Court's granted bail due to the state's application. In addition, the state party's application is forwarded to the Appellate Division's regular bench for a hearing. The Appellate Division denied the state's request to appeal Khadija's bail on November 15. On November 20, Khadijatul Kubra was freed from Kashimpur Central Women's Jail in Gazipur.
