Jagannath University (JnU) has regained the historical Dhupkhola field, located in Gandaria of old Dhaka.
The students and the university administration held a rally from campus to Dhupkhola field on Sunday afternoon to visit the field.
The Dhaka District Commissioner, Treasurer of Jagannath University and teachers were present at that time along with students. Later, the students put a banner in the name of Jagannath University Central Playground on the gate.
In this regard, the students said that this was one of their demands as in their small campus they do not get enough space to play. They believe that in future they will be able to meet their other demands. University Treasurer Professor Dr. Humayun Kabir Chowdhury said, "Students of Jagannath University used to play in this field, but I still can't find the reason why it became bare.
When the students informed the district commissioner about the field, the administration accepted the demand and handed over the field to us today.”
He thanked the Dhaka District Commissioner and the students who have taken this initiative. He also ensured to organize a tournament there soon.
