The female student of Begum Fazilatunnesa Mujib Hall of Jagannath University demanded an increase in facilities including a reduction in yearly seat renewal fees.
They hold a sit-in program on Monday noon in front of the Vice-Chancellor's room and later submitted a memorandum to the Vice-Chancellor on behalf of their demands.
The residential students said that they have to pay four to five times more money than the residential students of other public universities. Not only that, but they also have to share their seats with other female students. That is why they have to pay 5,265 taka for seat renewal. As a result, the administration has charged 10,530 taka for each seat. This is not acceptable in any way.
They further said that " Despite being a new hall, we are not receiving enough facilities and opportunities. We have repeatedly informed to the administration about the need for WiFi, better quality food, and solutions to all problems such as pure food and water, but we have not received any solutions. Therefore, today we are going to meet the VC to quickly resolve all the problems of our hall."
Assuring the students of solving all their problems, the university Vice-Chancellor, Imadadul Haque, said " We will make every effort to solve all the problems of the hall very soon. The fee of the institution will also be determined in a way that is affordable for all the students. We have already taken steps to solve all the problems of the institution."
