Jagannath University (JnU) has decided to withdraw from the General Science and Technology (GST) cluster admission system and will conduct its own admission tests starting from the next academic year. The decision was made during an Academic Council meeting held on Monday, presided over by the Vice-Chancellor of the university. Following the meeting, a committee consisting of 11 members was formed, led by the Vice-Chancellor, to organize the admission process independently.

The acting Registrar, Professor Dr. Sheikh Gias Uddin, confirmed the development, stating, “A committee has been formed. The press release will be published soon. We have already informed the GST Admission Test Committee of this decision.” He further mentioned that the likely time for the admission test is in the first week of January, with an official notice expected to be issued in November.

This move comes after several teachers at JnU expressed their preference for the university to conduct its own admission tests, independent of the General Science and Technology (GST) cluster system. The Academic Council, considering these demands, approved the decision.

The newly formed committee will oversee all aspects of the admission test process, ensuring that the university has full control over how prospective students are evaluated. With the withdrawal from the GST system, JnU aims to tailor its admission process to better meet the needs of the institution and its applicants.
