8th August is the local martyr's day of Chuadanga’s Jibannagar upazila. On this day of the liberation war of 1971, when a group of freedom fighters entered the Dhopakhali border of Jibannagar upazila from Banpur, India with the aim of liberating the motherland, the Pak aggressors suddenly attacked them and a fierce battle broke out.

In the battle, 5 heroic freedom fighters were martyred. The Pakistani aggressors lost an equal number of troops in the battle. The Pak aggressors retreated in the face of heavy firing and resistance by the Mukti Bahini.

Freedom fighter Nizamuddin, who took part in the battle on the Dhopakhali border, said that according to the previous plan, the Banpur sub-sector commander of Sector 7, Captain (later the Lt. Gen.) Mostafizur Rahman, led by Lt Mostafa, EPR jawans and local freedom fighters include Azharul Karim Reju, Rezaul Karim Alo, Abul Qasim, Sadar Ali, Reich Uddin, Abdus Samad and Akter Hossain of Dhopakhali village of Jibannagar, Saidur Rahman of Jayrampur village, Nizam Uddin of Jibannagar and others reached this area.

But when the local Razakars, the accomplices of the Pak-invading forces sensed the news of the entry of the freedom fighters, they rushed to the Pak camp. The Razakars leaked the story of Mukti Bahini Pakistani Army. At this time Pakistani Army team of the terrible Baloch Regiment lurked at the corner of Dhopakhali Bazar waiting for the liberation forces to arrive.
