The West Zone Power Distribution Company Limited (WZPDCL), the power supply company in Jhenidah, went on hard line to realize their pending bills over Taka 5.13 crore, lying pending to four municipalities in Jhenidah. They warned the subscribers to pay the bills by June this year, other wise to take action including disconnect the power supply lines, said the executive engineer (XEN) of Jhenidah WZPDCL.
In the other hand, the concern municipality authorities saying that the amount claimed by the WZPDCL was not true they claim. It has created spark between the WZPDCL and the municipal authorities.
XEN Paritosh Kumar Sarker said the company has been facing manifold problems, especially financial; crisis when the service provider municipalities are not paying their power supply bills for years together, while they committed to pay the same in due time. The situation was graved due to negligence of some of the influential persons in the municipalities.
Of the total amount, major pending for Taka 2.8 crore to Kotchandpur municipality. Taka 1.45 crore was pending to Moheshpur municipality, over Taka 1.41crore to Kaliganj municipality and Taka 19.21 lakh to Sailkupa municipality for couple of years.
The WZPDCL XEN said Jenidah municipality had liquidated their figure dues for Taka 1.5 crore paying the major amount. Quoting the order of the President in 1972 it was stated that no new power connection should be entertained to the default clients until and unless they pay the same accordingly.
Further, the Prime Minster had warned to stop the services if someone does not pay the bills in time. We are encouraged to carry out the orders of the honourable PM, XEN said.
Kaliganj municipality mayor Asharaful Islam when contacted said they has met up the major portion of their pending bills for Taka 1.5 crore. But the WZPDCL authorities has been claiming additional bills for Taka 90 lakh which was not true. The bills are lying pending due to negligence of Jhenidah WZPDCL for want of coordination. The mayor questioned about the claim of the power supply authorities.
