People of Jhenidah are going to witness a 10-storied building in the district town with multi sectoral facilities. The designed building will change the present pitiable scenario of the town. Kids’ zone, Sheikh Hasina entrepreneur corner, gymnasium, community centre, mini IT Park, modern car parking system and some other lucrative facilities are going to be created when the construction work is completed, said the municipal authorities.
Sources related to the municipality, said the people of Jhenidah town have been facing manifold problems like health-friendly marketing facilities, quality and safe food shops, modern shopping malls, information technology (IT) park, safe car parking facilities etc. Of them car parking problem was the burning issue in the narrow and congested town. After completion of the building the burning problems might be addressed, sources said.
Saidul Karim Mintu, the mayor of Jhenidah municipality said they have started constructing the modern and attracting building in Jhenidah titled “Construction of super market cum multipurpose building near pourashabha” with one basement and ground floor in the initial stage. The contract price of the market was set at Taka 18.51 crore, was started on March this year and expected to be completed by March next.
The complex will be enriched with ram, adequate fire fighting equipments, lift, abide wide stair, modern toilet facilities etc. The building is being constructed with the financial assistance of Bangladesh Municipality Development Fund (BMDF). Remaining work might be started later with public-private partnership (PPP) if the government fund is not available then.
The mayor said the multi-storied buildings in the district town do not have any parking space and creating traffic chaos round the clock. Traffic and others movement is halt frequently due to haphazard car parking.
Setting up the Sheikh Hasina entrepreneur corner will accommodate 100 women entrepreneurs in running their enterprises in a homely environment with modern facilities like Dhaka or Chttagram cities in Jhenidah district town, mayor said.
Setting up of kids’ zone in the municipal market, Mintu said some unscrupulous people have been establishing parks occupying river beds to earn money unethically. The kid’s zone will ensure recreation facilities for the children uninterrupted at a safer place with nominal charges. The project will help fulfill the dream of the Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina towards a better world for her beloved children, Mintu said.
