The country has been witnessing a sharp spike in death and infections in global corona pandemic. The havoc has taken a serious turn in Jhenaidah also where a total of 194 death incidents and 7,410 positive cases were recorded so far.
The police personnel in the district have been moving round the clock to motivate the people to maintain the lockdown rules and stay safe as advised by the directorate general of health services (DGHS). But the work was not so easy to the law enforcers when the people have been showing least eagerness to maintain the rules.
Superintendent of police (SP) Muntasirul Islam when contacted said to check the massive movement of the people and mini transports, they have set up check posts at several important spots in district as well as upazila.
Huge people are not allowed to move together. Further, ordinary and transports carrying people are sent back so that they could not enter in to the town.
SP said each and every police transports have been moving throughout the district even at remote villages to conduct publicity for maintain the rules when the strict lockdown hours was not over.
“We have tagged the in-charge of police outposts in the district with the elected councilors and chairmen if the union parishads so that they could take active part in maintaining law and order in the respective areas during the lockdown”, Muntasirul said.
The police official informed the rural people, especially illiterate ones usually do not care to maintain the social distances and lockdown guidelines when the global havoc has already grabbed us.
They have been motivating the innocent people. In some cases they bring some one in books to give nominal lesson. They have been also distributing face mask among the poor and needy people, SP said.
