A mobile court in Jhenaidah on Tuesday had awarded six months imprisonment and fined for Taka to a fertilizer dealer and ordered the manager of the fertilizer selling centre to suffer for one month.
The court also seized huge muriate of patash (MOP) fertilizer from the possessions of the dealer keep hoarding in his store without selling the same when there was a severe artificial crisis of the fertilizer.
The convicts are Bangladesh chemical Industries Corporation (BCIC) dealer Abu Jafar Munshi and his manager Abdur Rahim of Fursundi BZER OF Jhenaidah Sadar upazila.
Jhenaidah Sadar upazila agriculture officer Jahedul Karim said acting on a tip about illegal storage of fertilizer assistant commissioner (AC, Land) also executive magistrate Sharmin Akter Sumi conducted a drive at the store of BCIC dealer Abu Jafar Munshi and found huge quantity of MP fertilizer was hoarded illegally.
The official said the said dealer had withdrawn 14.8 tons of MOP fertilizer on July 28.and hoarding the same without selling among the local farmers.
Further, he failed to show any paper about 16 tones of the same out of total supplied 106 tons during the interrogation by the mobile court.
