Jhenaidah District Council polls campaign gets momentum

Election of Jhenaidah district council (Zilla Parishad) is going momentum as the election is nearing. Harun Or Rashid, an independent candidate of upcoming district council polls scheduled for October 17 said he will make his district as a model one which will be a district with modern facilities both for rural and urban people and there will be actually no difference there. 

Founder chairman of the nationally reputed non-government organization Srizony Foundation, also a leader of Bangabandhu Sainik League in Jhenaidah, has been conducting his election campaigns at different areas in Jhenaidah. In an interview with the Roving Correspondent of Bangladesh Post the devoted man said thoiusands of young men and women have been serving in his voluntary organization Srizony Foundation countrywide and managing their three times bread regular. The scope of employment for the jobless people will be widened if he was elected as the chairman of Jhenaidah district council. 

Harun was visiting Padmakar, Dogachhi, Naldanga and Harisankarpur and some other unions of Jhenaidah Sadar on Tuesday. A number of union parishad chairman, members and local social leaders were accompanying Harun Or Rashid during the campaigns.

Harun said he has been serving the people with his national level voluntary organization for last half a century where thousands of men and women serving.

His community radio titled Radio Jhenuk Has been providing information to the people on modern agriculture, local folks, culture and strengthening socio-economic base of the rural people. Further, it has been motivating the audiences against dowry, divorce, polygamy, drug, women and child trafficking and empowering the ever neglected women and children. 

When asked the intending and confident enough independent candidate with agitation said the desired development of the district could not be ensured and the people were deprived of adequate civic and other rights although it has a potential for its geographical location due to negligence of the past elected representatives. 

“I will reduce the differences between the rural and urban areas ensuring services to the people like developing roads and other infrastructures, proper academic atmosphere, poverty alleviation, establish human right and make a digitalized Jhenaidah using and applying modern information and communications technology as the Prime Minster Sheikh Hasina desiring to fulfill the dream of her father “Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman” with the collective efforts of all the chairmen and members of the union parishads in the district”, Harun Or Rashid said. 

District election office (EC) sources said they have taken all-out preparations to hold the district council polls scheduled on October 17 in a peaceful environment in Jhenaidah so that about a thousand voters might cast their votes in a fare and free environment. Adequate law enforcers will ensure law and order marking the polls, EC sources said.
