Jhenaidah Sadar upazila administration and social welfare office has taken an encouraging initiative to rehabilitate a street beggar who he was begging for couple of decades in the area.
The small initiative to set up a tea stall for him had shown him ray of hope, said the septuagenarian man Kalimuddin.
He is almost speechless receiving the equipment for running his own tea stall in the locality. The assistance was distributed under the beggars’
rehabilitation and alternative employment initiatives of upazila administration and the department of social welfare, said the social welfare office sources. The assistance was distributed at Tetulbaria village of Ghorshal union where local union parishad chairman Masud Parvez Lilton attended and presided over the simple ceremony. UNO Sadiya Jarin presented herself as chief guest while, upazila social welfare officer Abdul Hai Siddiquee, assistant upazila project implementation officer Hasibur Rahman and Ghorshal union parishad secretary Protap Aditya Biswas among others present.
Huge locals and social leaders remain present also. Septuagenarian beggar Kalimuddin when contacted for his comments said it was beyond his imagination that he could receive so much equipment to run a tea stall for his own. He prayed for the Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina so that she could extend her hands towards the have less people like him.
