Jewellery traders seek security during Eid holiday

Jewellery traders have sought security from the police to avert untoward incidents including theft and robbery in jewellery shops during Eid holidays.

Bangladesh Jewellers Association (BAJUS) informed it to media through a circular.

Earlier on Wednesday, Bangladesh Jewellers Association (BAJUS), the top organization of gold jewellery traders in the country, sent a letter to Inspector General of Police Chowdhury Abdullah Al-Mamun seeking security.

In the letter, they said that all the markets and shops in the country are closed due to the long holiday of Eid. 

At this time, there is a high possibility of various unwanted incidents including theft, robbery. In such a context, jewellery traders are very concerned about the security of their business establishments.

In this situation, it is requested to take round the clock security and more surveillance measures in the jewellery market and institutions for the special security of the jewellery shops of the country during Eid closure.

It is mentionable that the government has declared Eid holiday from June 16 to 18 (Sunday, Monday and Tuesday). However, because of the weekly holiday on Friday and Saturday, the government employees are getting a long holiday of 5 consecutive days.
