Promotion and expansion of women's cricket is increasing all over the world. Bangladesh is not also exceptional in this case when Shathira Jakir Jessy has been selected as an umpire in the Women’s Asia Cup to be held in July 18 in Sri Lanka.
Along with women cricketers, women umpires are also improving day by day.
The journey of women's umpiring in the country started with the hand of Shathira Jakir Jessy.
Many other girls also have come to umpiring after being inspired by Jessy. This time Jessy is standing in front of a milestone when she will conduct matches in the Women’s Asia Cup from July 18 to 28 in Sri Lanka.
This is the first time ICC has taken the initiative to organize the Women’s in the Asia Cup.
Hosts Sri Lanka, India, Pakistan, Bangladesh, UAE, Nepal, Thailand and Malaysia will take part in the continental tournament.
The first match will be held on July 18 and the final scheduled for July 28.
Last year, Jessy was the first women umpire in the domestic cricket when she conducted third-division cricket matches. Apart from this, Jessy also served as an umpire in a special match in India a few days ago.
Jessy also has experienced playing in the women's national team. She played three matches. After the tiny playing career, Jessy is on the verge of making the journey as women umpire at international circuit.
