The highly anticipated project of Japan Bangladesh Friendship Retirement Homes (JBFRH) is currently progressing fast. It is a joint venture of Bangladesh with Japan in concern with Japan Bangladesh Friendship group.
There are thousands of old homes across the world but this retirement homes of JBFRH are being built with the ultimate promise of providing the best special services and honour to the senior citizens of the country.
The project is progressing under the supervision of Prof Sardar A. Nayeem, Chief Laparoscopic Surgeon and Chairman of Japan Bangladesh Friendship Hospital (JBFH). Director of JBFH Ashikur Rahman Raju is the Coordinator of the project.

The project in Purbachal Vicinity of the capital is set to be a more advanced than other traditional retirement and geriatric homes with geriatric hospital. It would be a total care package for senior citizens. The total project will be managed by Japanese and Bangladeshi Management Team trained in Japan.
The initiative consists of modern amenities for senior citizens and it is claimed to be the first ever comprehensive geriatric project in Bangladesh.
The facilities of the project includes well furnished rooms with double and single occupancy options, friendly fitness centre for the senior citizens, swimming pool and club restaurant, dietician recommended food with top rated catering facilities, movie theatre, library and music rooms, gym and physiotherapy center for special treatments of the elderly people.
The project will be regularly visited by specialist doctors and nurses. All-time geriatric caregiver facility would be available there. Further facilities include full-time laundry and housekeeping, regular discourses on spirituality and wellness and dedicated Prayer Room, Day-Care services in clinics for daily health and medical need and full-fledged geriatric hospital services and diagnostic center with ICU and Palliative & Terminal Care facilities.
