The popular Bangladeshi actress Jaya Ahsan's film "Bhootpori" will be screened at the 55th International Film Festival of India (IFFI) in Goa on 25 November. The film has been selected for the Indian Panorama section of the prestigious event.
Jaya Ahsan made the announcement on her official Facebook page, expressing her excitement and honor. She wrote, “Honoured to announce Bhootpori’s selection for the Indian Panorama at the 55th IFFI, Goa! A special screening celebrating the art of storytelling will be held at 8:00 pm on 25 November. Experience Bhootpori on the global stage.”
Directed by Saukorja Ghosal, "Bhootpori" tells the story of a woman who died in 1947. Her restless spirit meets a young boy in the present, and together they work to uncover the truth behind her death, which turns out to be a murder, not an accident. Jaya Ahsan plays the lead role in the film, which also stars Ritwick Chakraborty, Sudipta Chakraborty, Shantilal Mukherjee, and Bishantak Mukherjee.
The film premiered in West Bengal earlier this year on 9 February. "Bhootpori" is one of three Bengali films showcased in the Feature Film segment of the Indian Panorama section at IFFI, alongside “Amar Boss” and “Aankh Ki Kothin.”
The 55th IFFI began on 19 November and will run until 28 November in Goa. Alongside "Bhootpori," Jaya Ahsan has several upcoming films, including “Jaya Aar Sharmin,” “Kalantar,” “Putulnacher Itikatha,” and “OCD.” She will also appear in the web series “Jimmi,” directed by Ashfaque Nipun.
This global recognition for "Bhootpori" marks a significant achievement for Jaya Ahsan and the Bangladeshi film industry.
