Former Inspector General of Police (IGP) Mohammad Javed Patwari was contractually appointed as Ambassador to Saudi Arabia. The interim government ordered him to return home two months ago. However, he is reported to have gone to the United States without returning to the country.
According to diplomatic sources in Dhaka and Riyadh, the former IGP left Riyadh, the capital of Saudi Arabia, on August 28 after leaving his duties as Ambassador. However, his final destination is yet to be confirmed.But, he told his close friends in Riyadh that he was going to the United States via Dubai.
The interim government took over on August 8. On August 14, the appointment of six ambassadors including Javed Patwari was canceled and they were ordered to return home. He did not return to the country even after issuing this order for almost two months.
Awami League government appointed Javed Patwari as Ambassador to Saudi Arabia on April 13, in 2020 on a three-year contract. He was again appointed on contract for the next one and a half years from February 3 this year.
