Jatka seized in Tonggibari

Jhatka fishes were seized in a joint operation in Didhirpar market area of Tonggibari upazila of Munshiganj. 

The operation was conducted from 05.50 am to 09.30 am. The expedition was conducted by BCG Station Pagla and Tongibari Fisheries Office Munshiganj. Under the leadership of Station Commander Pagla, Lt. Kazi Akib Arafat (X), PCGM, BN, this operation was conducted against illegal Jatka in the area adjacent to Dighirpar Bazar in a joint initiative of Dhaka.

During the operation, 02 boats were searched and approximately 60 (sixty) kg of Jatka fish were seized. The estimated market value of the seized jatkas is Tk 24,000.

According to the Tongibari Fisheries Office, it was not possible to arrest anyone as the real owner of the Jatka group could not be found. Later, the seized Jatka fish were distributed to Madrasas with the permission of Upazila Fisheries Officer Tongibari.

It is said that although the Jatka hilsa fish market is profitable, due to manpower shortage, it is not possible for the administration to carry out vigorous operations.

It should be noted that from November 1 to June 30, Jatka fish campaign was conducted to protect mother hilsa.
