Jatiya Press Club suspends 37 members

The Jatiya Press Club has suspended its 37 members for ‘inciting killings’ during the student-led uprising in July. They were also accused of being the allies of the deposed authoritarian government.

This decision was taken at a meeting of the club's management committee on October 27.

A list, signed by the body's President Hasan Hafiz and General Secretary Ayub Bhuiyan, containing the names of those suspended has been hung on the notice board of the club.

The 37 members are Nurul Amin Prabash, Zaidul Ahsan Pintu, Mozammel Babu, Ashish Saikat, Iqbal Sobhan Chowdhury, Sohel Haider Chowdhury, Farzana Rupa, Ashok Chowdhury, Ajmal Haque Helal, Abul Khair, Mohammad Manjurul Islam, Pranab Saha, Naeem Nizam, Khairul Alam, Abed Khan, Subhash Chand Badal, Zahirul Islam Mamun (JE Mamun), Zafar Wazed, Saiful Islam Kallol, Pavel Rahman, Azizul Islam Bhuiyan, Shaban Mahmud, Muhammad Shafiqur Rahman, Abul Kalam Azad, Shyamal Sarkar, Ajay Dasgupta, Alamgir Hossain, Ramaprasad Sarkar Babu, Sanjay Saha Piyal, Faraji Ajmal Hossain, Anisur Rahman, Enamul Haque Chowdhury, Naimul Islam Khan, Md Ashraf Ali, Mollah Jalal, Ikhtiar Uddin, and Abu Jafar Surjo.

Asked, Ayub Bhuiyan said the management committee in its meeting decided to suspend the membership of 37 members for an indefinite period.
