Ambassador of Japan Mr. Iwama Kiminori called on Dhaka University (DU) Vice-Chancellor Prof. Dr. A S M Maksud Kamal on Sunday at the latter’s office of the university. DU Pro-Vice Chancellor (Administration) Prof. Dr. Muhammad Samad, Treasurer Prof. Mamtaz Uddin Ahmed and Second Secretary of Japan Embassy Mr. Yamamoto Kyohei were, among others, present on this occasion.
During the meeting they discussed matters of mutual interest and exchanged views regarding the ongoing joint collaborative academic and research activities at Dhaka University in collaboration with Japan and JICA. They stressed the need for enhancing mutual collaboration and cooperation among Dhaka University and Japanese Universities on various academic and research fields especially Computer Engineering, IT and Social Work. Japanese Ambassador Mr. Iwama Kiminori informed the Vice Chancellor of DU that JICA would send Japanese volunteers next year to teach Japanese Language at the Institute of Modern Languages of DU. He also informed the Vice-Chancellor that Japanese students would like to pursue their higher studies in Bangla Language at Dhaka University. The Japanese Ambassador sought cooperation from DU VC in these regards.
DU VC Prof. Dr. A S M Maksud Kamal assured Japanese Ambassador of providing all possible cooperation and said, Japan is our major development partner and a friendly relation has been prevailing between the two countries for a long time. We are interested to explore new avenues of joint collaborative academic and research activities as well as exchange of faculties, researchers and students among Dhaka University and leading universities in Japan for fostering our existing friendly relationship, DU VC added.
DU VC Prof. Dr. A S M Maksud Kamal thanked the Japanese Ambassador for his visit to and keen interest to strengthen academic and research collaboration and cooperation with Dhaka University.
