Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina received a Certificate of Appreciation from the Japanese Government on Monday for Bangladesh's installation of a Peace Memorial at Nagasaki Peace Park.

The certificate was handed over by Housing and Public Works Minister RAM Obaidul Muktadir Chowdhury at the Prime Minister's Office during Monday's Cabinet meeting.

The initiative to establish the Peace Memorial was part of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina's vision for a nuclear-free world, culminating in its unveiling on May 24. The three-meter-high monument, crafted from black granite and white marble, stands as a symbol of peace.

Minister Muktadir Chowdhury expressed gratitude to all involved, including Nagasaki Mayor Shiro Suzuki, during the unveiling ceremony attended by Bangladesh Ambassador to Japan Shahabuddin Ahmed and officials.

The event began with a moment of silence at 11:02 am, marking the tragic moment of the atomic bomb's impact on Nagasaki in 1945. It concluded with Bangladesh's delegation laying wreaths at the site of the atomic bomb explosion.
