Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami and National Democratic Movement (NDM) leaders at a meeting on Monday put emphasis on restoring peace and order in the country and urged the people to remain alert so that no miscreant can make the situation volatile.
"Somewhere in the country miscreants continue efforts to shift the liability of wrongdoings to polities after committing misdeeds. The people of the country should remain aware about this," said a Jamaat press release.
Jamaat-e-Islami Ameer Dr Shafiqur Rahman, Nayebe Ameer Mawlana ANM Shamsul Islam and Secretary General Mawlana Abdul Halim, NDM Chairman Bobby Hajjaj, Vice-Chairman Md Faruq-uz-Zaman, Secretary General Mominul Amin, Senior Joint Secretary General Md Jahangir Hossain, Upper Council Member Humayun Parvez Khan and Office Secretary Jabedur Rahman joined the meeting.
The release said the leaders of Jamaat and NDM exchanged views at the meeting on the current situation of the country.
Urging all to give priority to the country above everything else, the leaders of the both parties said the party interests should not be given priority above the country.
Noting that a nefarious group is hatching conspiracy in different ways to thwart the mass-student revolution, they called the people not to take the law on their hands.
In the prevailing situation, the Jamaat and NDM leaders said leaders of all parties and professions must play a united role.
"All should come forward to rebuild the country by upholding the unity of the students and the people," they added.
The leaders of the both parties put emphasis on speedy trial of those involved in carrying out genocide and anarchy.
