One kilometer road at Jibannagar in Chuadanga district was repaired with the initiative of Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami on Friday.
Earlier, around 6,000 people of three villages of the area faced immense sufferings due to the dilapidated condition of the road.
Leaders and activists of Jamaat-e-Islami of Simanto union’s ward no. 2 in Jibannagar Upazila of the district along with the help of the villagers repaired the one-kilometer road at around 10:00am on Friday.
Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami Simanto union unit Ameer Maolana Md Abu Bakkar Siddique said one-kilometer road adjacent to Goalpara Primary School was unfit for movement of the people for years due to lack of repair work. So, several thousand people of three villages, two primary schools, three madrasahs and a recreation center had to suffer while using on the road. Around 6,000 people had to suffer as the road was unfit for movement due to lack of repair work.
The matter was noticed by the leaders and activists of Jamaat-e-Islami and they informed the authorities concerned. However, the road was not repaired. So, they repaired the road with brick and sand on Friday to make the road fit for movement of the people.
Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami Simanto union unit Ameer Maolana Md Abu Bakkar Siddique, Secretary Alauddin, Assistant Secretary Md Jalal Uddin, Assistant Secretary Md Johur Alam and leaders of Simanto union ward no. 2 were present at that time.
