Ameer of Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami Dr. Shafiqur Rahman visited the Dhakeshwari Temple in the capital on Thursday.
His visit to the temple came in the wake the attacks on the Hindu minority people in different parts of the country.
Atavists of Jamaat and its student wing Islami Chhatra Shibir were seen guarding temples across the country to prevent further violence against minority Hindu community.
During the visit, Dr. Shafiqur Rahman met with temple authorities and Hindu community leaders and assured them of protection from attacks by miscreants.
During a press conference there, he said,
“We will not tolerate any terrorist attack. If anyone harms your lives or property by using the name Jamaat or Shibir, give us the list of the miscreants. We will exemplary punishment to them,” he said at a press conference.
He also sought cooperation of all in maintaining peace.
“We are not guarding the temples for any political gain, we are engaged in this work to be with the people as human beings. If the people and the country need Jamaat for any help it will be our best gift.”
