Bangladesh Cricket Board's (BCB) cricket operations chairman Jalal Yunus has officially ended his long-standing association with the country’s cricket board on Monday. He had been serving as the head of the cricket operations department under the leadership of President Nazmul Hasan Papon. Yunus was appointed to the position of director by the National Sports Council (NSC).
"I have resigned as director for the greater good of cricket," said Jalal after resigning.
Additionally, another director, Sajjadul Alam Bobby, was also requested to resign by the NSC. However, Bobby has not yet complied with this request.
Jalal Yunus had a long and distinguished career with the BCB, having served as the chairman of the media committee for many years. His expertise and leadership were further recognised in 2021 when Akram Khan resigned as the head of cricket operations. Following Khan’s resignation, Nazmul Hasan Papon appointed Yunus to the position, where he has served diligently for the past four years.
Yunus’s departure from the BCB marks the end of an era, as he has been a pivotal figure in the organisation, contributing to its growth and success. His resignation is expected to have a significant impact on the board, and it remains to be seen how the BCB will navigate this transition period. The NSC will now nominate a new director to replace Jalal.
